Repositioning and extending a brand built for good.

What if?

Could a brand platform and strategic design take a small mission based brand from a natural player to a national brand over the course of 10 years?

Results

We began our initial partnership by building a clear strategy around the idea that “Rice is Life”—both for those who eat it and those who farm it. And that couldn’t be more true for Lotus Foods—a company dedicated to serving farmers and the planet we live on. From this strategy, we developed a packaging system that actually put the farmers they work with right next to a window that allowed the beauty of their own rices to show through on-shelf. With the success of the brand’s new look and feel we worked together to extend the brand into new categories across the store. The Arare Rice Crackers were taken into Whole Foods as an exclusive launch, received strong feedback from buyers and exceeded expectations for initial sales. The Pad Thai Noodles and Rice Delights experienced their own success, and most recently, we evolved their brand even further by creating a more convenient and portable product—the instant Rice Ramen Noodle Soup Cups. Entering a totally new space, we helped transform this popular but outdated category with a healthier, more flavorful and more sustainably sourced rice noodle option that would stand out on-shelf. We explored new designs that blended Lotus Foods’ more sophisticated and natural look with fun and whimsical design elements.

“They are an invaluable partner in our business. They’ve helped us think differently about our brand—who we are and how we present ourselves—and their work has made us shine on-shelf and helped double our revenue.”
