Westfield

Building and executing a regional shopping center strategy to guide development and leasing nationwide.

What if?

Could the largest owner of shopping centers in the United States develop a strategy that allowed them to serve unique communities across the country with offerings that worked for both shoppers and retailers?

Results

We developed a customized vision and design process that changed the way Westfield teams approached mall redevelopment. By putting the consumer and the surrounding community at the center of any redevelopment project, we helped Westfield focus their design and build shopping experiences that are positioned to meet the needs and wants of the community. This process has informed center redevelopment in California, Connecticut, Florida, Oregon and New York. Most recently, our work guided the redevelopment of shopping centers in our hometown—Westfield UTC in La Jolla has been reenvisioned as a Southern California lifestyle center and Westfield Horton Plaza has become a new downtown landmark.

“They were instrumental in helping us design a process to reposition, reimagine and redesign a significant number of centers in our portfolio. They were highly collaborative in bringing the design process to life and the results have been transformational.”
